STG Helps GAIL Move Toward a Paperless Environment

New Delhi, India - (November 13, 2000) STG's Software Development Division is developing a company wide Intranet for GAIL that would manage the entire documentation for billing and contracts and would interface with their Financial Management System, Material Management System, and HR Systems. The system would be the first step in taking GAIL into a paperless environment. Employees would be able to track their documents, bills (personal or official) through the entire cycle till the payment is released. The system has a built-in on-line approval system with an e-mail enabled notification system. The system has state-of-the-art Smart Card Security system for authentication purposes.

Technology used is centered on the Object Oriented paradigm. Rational Rose is the Case Tool and the development environment is Java centered (uses EJB architecture) with Oracle 8i as the back end. The system is to be implemented in a distributed environment across 21 sites of GAIL with work flows spread across multiple sites.

With this project the value of the total business executed for GAIL has crossed over one crore. Prior to this project, STG has successfully executed a Financial Management System, for GAIL that has been successfully implemented across more than 20 offices of GAIL all over India.
